National Award-Winning Collaboration Holds Health Clinic in Apopka

 In Health Professions, Social Work

A team of students from UCF and the University of Florida gathered once again to provide health care for uninsured farmworkers during a free clinic in Apopka.

Students from UCF’s School of Social Work, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, College of Medicine and College of Nursing, along with pharmacy students from the University of Florida, formed the team.

They worked with supervising clinicians to provide care for 83 patients during the five-and-a-half-hour clinic last week.

The interdisciplinary collaboration formed in 2016 and has held four clinics, the first one a two-day event, for this underserved population.

UCF received national recognition for the collaboration last month. The U.S. Public Health Service and Interprofessional Education Collaborative awarded the university the inaugural Public Health Excellence in Interprofessional Education Collaboration Award. Learn more
