Kapucu, Oetjen Begin Five-Year Appointments as College Leaders

In Health Management and Informatics, Public Administration

Two faculty members in the College of Health and Public Affairs began five-year appointments this month as the leader of their respective academic unit. Their appointments follow a national search to fill the positions.

Professor Naim Kapucu is the new director of the School of Public Administration. He has been a member of the school’s faculty since 2003. Kapucu is the founding director of the Center for Public and Nonprofit Management, and he developed the Graduate Certificate and Minor in Emergency Management and Homeland Security programs. He also served as director of the Public Service and Leadership program from 2007 to 2009. He succeeds Associate Professor Mary Ann Feldheim, who served as the school’s director for the past 10 years and remains on the faculty.

Associate Professor Reid Oetjen is now the permanent chair of the Department of Health Management and Informatics. He joined the department’s faculty in 2008. Oetjen has served as program director for the bachelor’s, master’s and executive master’s degree programs in health services administration. He also served as interim chair of the department from 2012 to 2015, following the retirement of the former chair, Professor Emeritus Aaron Liberman. In addition, Oetjen was chair of the UCF Faculty Senate and a member of the UCF Board of Trustees from 2013 to 2015.
