Dr. Matt S. Stock is an Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida where he teaches within the Doctor of Physical Therapy program and directs the Applied Physiology Laboratory. Dr. Stock obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma. His research interests include resistance training adaptations, neuromuscular physiology, aging, and disuse. He has published over 60 original, peer-reviewed manuscripts in journals such as the Journals of Gerontology: Series A, the European Journal of Applied Physiology, Muscle & Nerve, and Experimental Gerontology. Dr. Stock is an active member of International Society of Electrophysiology and Kinesiology, the American Physiological Society, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He serves on the NSCA Foundation’s Board of Directors and as a Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research. In 2017, he was named the NSCA Educator of the Year. Dr. Stock worked at Texas Tech University from 2012-2016, and was awarded the university’s New Faculty Award and the Teaching Spotlight Award. He views the research process as a way to facilitate classroom learning, and enjoys spending time in the laboratory while working with students on their research projects.
