Daniel Barr ’04 Named Rising Star by Becker’s Hospital Review
Daniel Barr ’04 was recently named Rising Star by Becker’s Hospital Review. The award was presented to Barr and 59 other health care executives under the age of 40 across the country. Individuals on this list founded health IT companies and have reached prominence within their organizations.
From Becker’s Hospital Review: Mr. Barr was director of service line development for women’s and children’s services at Cleveland-based University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and MacDonald Women’s Hospital before joining Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he now serves as vice president and service line administrator for hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant. He focuses on ensuring healthcare is affordable and high quality. Nationwide Children’s Hospital honored him last year with the 2016 Nationwide Children’s Hospital Quality and Safety Award, and the University of Central Florida granted him the 2016 Professional Achievement Award.
Earlier this year, Barr received the 2016 Professional Achievement Award at the College of Health and Public Affairs Outstanding Alumni Awards from Reid Oetgen, Ph.D., chair for the Department of Health Management and Informatics. From his nomination: “He is an active Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives – the highest level one can achieve, and a further example of his commitment to striving for excellence in his profession. Dan embodies the principles and has all the non-cognitive traits that are highly desirable in our leaders. He is highly principled, forthright and of unquestionable integrity. There is no doubt he is a leader. Dan was also selected as the recipient of the Professional Achievement Award for the College of Health and Public Affairs.”
