The Orlando/Central Florida Chapter of ASIS, a community of security practitioners, awarded two scholarships to UCF criminal justice students at its Jan. 27 meeting.

Each year the local chapter awards the scholarships to students who are pursuing security-related careers. ASIS International provides matching funds for one of the scholarships.

This year, criminal justice major Lauren Rockefeller received a $500 scholarship from the local chapter plus a matching gift of $500 from ASIS International, for a total of $1,000 in scholarship funds.

Criminal justice graduate student Raeesah Dalal received a $500 scholarship from the local chapter.

UCF criminal justice faculty members Iryna Malendevych and Joe Henderson were there to congratulate the recipients.

ASIS International and its Orlando chapter welcomes security professionals, young and experienced, to join the organization.

ASIS International was founded more than 61 years ago. The organization and the professional certifications it offers are recognized internationally. Most major cities have a subchapter of ASIS International that supports the security professionals and practitioners in the area.
