Ronnie Korosec, associate professor of public administration, has been selected to serve as the first Dean's Faculty Fellow, a yearlong professional development position. As a fellow, Korosec will participate in a variety of projects throughout the college in 2008-2009.
Three USPS employees in the college were recognized for their years of service at UCF during the Annual Employee Award Program on July 28:
Carol Ross - 15 years
Matthew Hathaway - 10 years

Theresa Daly, director of the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD), has secured nearly $20,000 in grant funding from Autism Speaks to implement the "Real Experience in Autism Classrooms Helps" (REACH) program. In 2008-2009, the program will place 50 to 100 UCF undergraduates in local school districts to work with autism teachers. The students will gain valuable real-world experience and enhance the education of children with autism.
Olga Molina, assistant professor of social work, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the international Association for the Advancement of Social Work with Groups. Her election was announced at the association's 2008 International Symposium, held June 19-22 in Cologne, Germany. At the conference, Molina presented a paper titled, "Dealing with Diversity in Divorce Groups."

A graduate of the Doctoral Program in Public Affairs, Jeffrey Goltz ('06), has been named the new director of the Valencia Community College Criminal Justice Institute. Goltz's dissertation focused on police organizational performance in Florida.
At the recent Annual Convention of the Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists, Associate Professor Kenyatta Rivers received the Honors of the Association Award;Damany Phifer received the Larry Director Graduate Student Fellowship ($1,000); and a team comprising alumna Kinsey Bickford, graduate students Ayelet Kleidermacher and Christina Coghlan, and Clinical Instructors Janet Whiteside and Jane Hostetler received third prize for their research poster. Martine Vanryckeghem, professor of communication sciences and disorders and
an expert on stuttering, has been elected a Fellow in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The status of Fellow recognizes professional or scientific achievement and is given to members who have made outstanding contributions to the profession. The award is one of the highest honors that ASHA can bestow and is retained for life.
Barbara Ehren, professor of communication sciences and disorders and director of the doctoral program, was selected to receive the 2008 SIM (Strategic Instruction Model) Award by more than 1,000 SIM-certified instructors nationwide. The award recognizes her contributions as "an outstanding leader in bringing about significant changes in the field of education on behalf of children and adolescents who are academically at risk."
