JOB DESCRIPTION: Napa State Hospital is an 1184 bed psychiatric hospital operated by the California Department of Mental Health. Social Workers at Napa are assigned to specific treatment programs within the hospital. They are members of an interdisciplinary Wellness and Recovery team, which usually consists of a psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, rehabilitation therapist,
nursing personnel and other specialized staff as needed. The
Social Workers are involved in a wide variety of tasks. These tasks may include the completing Psychosocial Assessments, providing individual,
group and family therapy, maintaining contact with individual's families and significant others, preparing reports for the courts and other community agencies, acting as a consultant to other staff, and participating in the quality improvement program.
