About the School

Welcome to the School of Social Work at the University of Central Florida. We are located on the 2nd floor of the Health and Public Affairs building I. The school offers a variety of degree and certificate programs, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The School also has a part-time MSW program in Daytona Beach.

The School of Social Work began in the early 1960s as a discipline in the Department of Sociology. With the advent of accreditation for undergraduate social work education, the program was among the first baccalaureate programs in Florida to be accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Currently both the BSW and the MSW programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Approximately 400 students are enrolled in the School of Social Work: half in the B.S.W. program and half in the M.S.W. program. Many are second-career students from a variety of vocational backgrounds.

The faculty and support staff of the School of Social Work bring together a wide diversity of experience and skills for the benefit of those who study and work in the field of social work. Strong partnerships with the community enhance the education of students and the employment opportunities of graduates. We take a great deal of pride in our faculty publications, research, hands-on instruction, academic integrity, and the personal attention we are able to provide for our students.
