Four faculty members, two students, three alumni and a former postdoctoral fellow from the college are authors of articles published in a fourth special issue of the International Journal of Public Policy that focuses on Public Affairs Informatics Research. Carol Bast, associate professor of legal studies, and Linda Samuels, professor of legal studies at George Mason University, received the Virginia Maurer Ethics Paper Award from the international Academy of Legal Studies in Business for their paper, "Plagiarism and Legal Scholarship in the Age of Information Sharing: The Need for 'Intellectual Honesty.'" The award recognizes excellence in legal scholarship, quality of writing and research, and readiness for publication. Click here to learn more.
A second special issue of the International Journal of Public Policy includes three papers by UCF researchers. The issue was edited by Thomas Wan, director of the Doctoral Program in Public Affairs; Alicia Sitren, a student in the program was assistant editor. Click here to learn more.
The U.S. Government Accountability Office interviewed Larry Martin, professor of public affairs, on several occasions in preparing its September 2006 report, "Grants Management: Enhancing Performance Accountability Provisions Could Lead to Better Results." As a result, UCF is identified as a source of expertise on the subject (p. 42) and two of Martin's publications are cited in the report's bibliography (p. 47).

Lucille Ponte, associate professor of legal studies, received the annual Hoeber Memorial Award for the most outstanding article in the Journal of Legal Studies Education for the second year in a row. The national award is given by the Academy of Legal Studies in Business. The citation for the 2006 award-winning article is Ponte, L.M. (2006). The case of the unhappy sports fan — embracing different learning styles and promoting student-centered learning through an online dispute resolution simulation. Larry Martin, professor of public affairs, is one of 12 "privatization pioneers" invited to author an article in the Annual Privatization Report, 20th Anniversary Edition, published in 2006 by the Reason Foundation. Other authors include Margaret Thatcher, former prime minister of the United Kingdom, and the governors of South Carolina and Indiana.
Thomas T.H. Wan, associate dean for research and director of public affairs, is the guest editor for a special issue of the International Journal of Public Policy titled "Public Affairs Informatics Research - III."
"Product-Line Extensions and Pricing Strategies of Brand-Name Drugs Facing Patent Expiration," a paper coauthored by Thomas T.H. Wan, earned the annual Award for Excellence for 2005 from the national Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy.
