"Study: Cops held back on force — But restraint in recent years may have meant more injuries"
The Orlando Sentinel reports on a study conducted by Charlie Mesloh (Public Affairs-Criminal Justice Track, '02) and Ross Wolf, assistant professor of criminal justice, funded by a $99,000 grant from the National Institute of Justice. The grant title is "Less Lethal Weapon Effectiveness, Use of Force, and Suspect and Officer Injuries: A Five-Year Analysis."

Frahm Receives Hartford
Pre-Dissertation Award
Kathryn Frahm, a student in the Doctoral Program in Public Affairs, Social Work Track, has been selected to receive a Hartford Doctoral Fellows Pre-Dissertation Award by The Gerontological Society of America. The one-year award will pay for Frahm to attend professional conferences and meetings and pre-conference institutes on research and grant writing skills. Frahm's dissertation research will focus on family support influences on the quality of mental health care for nursing-home residents.
