College Appoints Jacobs Chair of Health Professions

The College of Health and Public Affairs at the University of Central Florida has appointed Diane Jacobs, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Health Professions. She has been the acting chair for the past 12 months.

Jacobs started in the Department of Molecular Biology and Microbiology in 1994, when she was appointed vice president for research and graduate studies and became the first woman at UCF to serve at the vice presidential level.

She was previously employed at East Carolina University as the associate vice chancellor for research, dean of the graduate school and professor of biology. Jacobs earned her Ph.D. in bacteriology from Harvard University in 1966.

The Department of Health Professions offers degree programs in athletic training, cardiopulmonary sciences, health information management, health services administration, physical therapy and radiologic sciences.
