Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Health Professions, which includes programs in Athletic Training, Cardiopulmonary Sciences, Health Information Management, Health Services Administration, Physical Therapy and Radiologic Sciences, is to educate and train entry-level clinicians and administrators to function in a wide variety of treatment environments. These environments range from rural, suburban and metropolitan multi-hospital systems to office-based practice, and from marketing and finance-based activities to education.

The faculty strives to assist in the development of intelligent leaders in the respective professions who are responsive to the health-care needs of the state of Florida and the United States. Its members posit that students are non-traditional adult learners with the capacity for acquisition of knowledge and skills to enable reflectivity, cerebration, creativity, problem-solving and critical analysis. The faculty believe that each faculty member will model the characteristic attributes of a clinical scholar or administrative scholar with respect to practice, education, research, continuing education, service and leadership.
