ABOUT THE CENTER

The Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Central Florida is a resource that provides information about East Central Florida for use in policy planning and decisions that benefit the region.

Government and community leaders, agency representatives and citizens are some of the groups who turn to the center for information. Graduate students and faculty members from the university play a critical role in the center by collecting and analyzing data and transforming it into functional information.

The center was launched in 2001 with support from the Winter Park Health Foundation and the Florida Hospital Community Health Improvement Council.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE COMMUNITY
  • Support for community-based research, evaluation and data analysis
  • Easy access to community data through the center's Web site
  • Transformation of information into practical data
  • Discussions and development of public policy in a nonpartisan environment
  • Enhanced public policy planning and decision making
  • Use of "Access to Better Community Data" (ABCD)

The ABCD Project, a partnership between the center and UCF Library, has developed a Web-based database with timely and relevant information about the Central Florida community. The database, known as "Access to Better Community Data," uses a data directory to provide easy access to records and information from local, regional, state and national sources. The ABCD database is accessible through a Web site in the UCF Library Web system.
