The ABCD Project
The Access to Better Community Data (ABDC Project) is a partnership between the University of Central Florida Library, College of Health and Public Affairs, Center for Community Partnerships, University of Central Florida faculty and students, and community organizations. The goal of the project is to provide a web-based source of timely and relevant information about the Central Florida area that can accessed readily by members of the community. The ABCD Project has two major components:
- First, the UCF Library Government Documents office has created a link to important public data bases that contain important information about the region (for example, the U.S. Census, Florida School Indicators Report, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Department of Health). This set of data bases is linked by clicking on Find Local Community Data.
- Second, the Center for Community Partnerships has collected reports regarding the Central Florida region that have been produced by the Center, faculty and students of UCF, and other community groups. These reports address a variety of important topics. These reports can be accessed by clicking on the Reports Section of the Center website.
The ABCD project encourages community organizations that have created reports based studies conducted in and about the Central Florida community to share this information with others in the community through the ABCD web site. To be included in the ABCD project, these studies should address issues related to health, criminal justice, social and human services, or other topics. Reports need to include information about methodology (sampling procedure, data collection methods), data analysis, the findings, and possible implications.
For more information about whether or not these reports fit with the ABCD project, please contact either Dr. Mary P.Van Hook, Director, mvanhook@mail.ucf.edu, 407-823 071, or Nancy Ellis, Associate Director, nancy@mail.ucf.edu, 407-823-0744.
