About this Photo

Orlando, Aug. 21, 2006 — The college has two new leaders this academic year: Professor John Ronnau, director of the School of Social Work, and Associate Professor Pamala Griset, interim chair of the Department of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies.

Ronnau joined the college in July 2006. He was previously employed as vice president for administration and partnership affairs at the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. He also held positions as special assistant to the provost for enrollment planning and dean of graduate studies and sponsored programs at these two campuses.

Before moving to Texas, Ronnau worked as both an administrator and faculty member at the University of Utah and New Mexico State University. He has written extensively on family preservation, family and child welfare issues, and social work practice. Ronnau earned his doctorate in social work from the University of Kansas.

Griset, a member of the Department of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies faculty since 1993, was appointed interim chair in August 2006. She previously served the department as coordinator of the master’s degree program in criminal justice. Before coming to UCF, she was a deputy commissioner in the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services for five years.

As a researcher, Griset has published several articles and authored a book on sentencing law and practices. She is coauthor of a 2003 book titled Terrorism in Perspective, which is currently being readied for a second edition. Her other research activities include case studies on agency experiences in the Florida Law Enforcement Data Consortium and legal aspects of the history of criminal justice. Griset earned her doctorate in criminal justice at the State University of New York at Albany.
