ORLANDO, Nov. 8, 2007 — More than 175 students attended the Sixth Annual Public Service Showcase held today in the Student Union's Pegasus Ballroom at UCF's Orlando campus. They came to learn about career opportunities in public service by speaking with representatives from dozens of community organizations and academic programs.
"This was an outstanding event that was beneficial for both students and the community," said Mary Ann Feldheim, chair of the Department of Public Administration. "Many students came in professional attire with resumes, taking advantage of meeting with potential employers and internship partners."
In previous years, the showcase focused on careers in public affairs' disciplines. This year, careers in health services were featured as well.
The event was made possible thanks to the collaborative efforts of the following UCF organizations: Career Services; the student Organization for Public Administration; and the Departments of Public Administration, Health Professions, and Communication Sciences and Disorders.
A Seventh Annual Public Service Showcase is scheduled for
Nov. 6, 2008.
