Sophia F. Dziegielewski is the dean and a professor at the School of Social Work, University of Cincinnati (UC), Cincinnati, Ohio.
She is also a former faculty member of UCF's School of Social Work. Her educational qualifications include an M.S.W. and Ph.D. in social work from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla.
Dziegielewski is also a licensed clinical social worker in Florida and Ohio. At UCF she was chairperson for the UCF Human Subjects Review Board, where she presided over all human subjects research at this large metropolitan university.
From February to July 2006 at UC, she served as chair the IRB, Behavioral Science Review Board.
Throughout her social work academic and practice career, Dziegielewski has been active in research and the protection of human subjects, specializing in health and mental health clinical practice.
A 2003 article in the national magazine Social Worker Today referred to her as a "legend" in her field. She is the recipient of numerous awards, and supports her research and practice activity with over 115 publications, including 7 textbooks, 74 articles, numerous book chapters, and more than 400 workshops and community presentations.
