ORLANDO, Nov. 17, 2008 — Professor Chad Nye (second from right) of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) was inducted last week into the UCF Millionaires Club.
The UCF Office of Research and Commercialization annually bestows the honor to researchers who receive $1 million or more in external support in a fiscal year.
Nye was one of 32 researchers at UCF to earn the honor for 2007-2008.
He was a member of the club for 2006-2007 as well.
In 2007-2008, Nye secured the following two grants:
- $1,053,305 from the Florida Department of Education to provide support and assistance for individuals with autism, dual sensory impairment and related disabilities through CARD
- $630,995 from the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory to investigate vocational rehabilitation service models for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders
During the induction ceremony, the Office of Research and Commercialization also recognized research personnel who work with researchers to secure and administer external funding.
In the College of Health and Public Affairs, those individuals include Kerry Gajewski (above left), director of the COHPA Office of Research and Budget Office, and Nicole Phanstiel (right), a research coordinator. Joining them in the photo is college Dean Michael Frumkin (second from left).
Not pictured are Tom Wan, associate dean for research, and Barbara Howell, a research coordinator who works directly with Nye.
