This lecture will focus on the Jones Act of 1917 and its impact on U.S. citizenship for Puerto Ricans who reside in Puerto Rico. The lecture will explore why Puerto Ricans living on the island are not allowed to vote for a U.S. president and the possible creation of a "second class" citizenship as a result of U.S. policy there.
