COHPA
Welcome

At first glance, the College of Health and Public Affairs might seem to be a disparate mix of academic disciplines — assorted departments and schools that have come to be housed coincidentally under the eaves of the same college. After all, we’re preparing students to become physical therapists and legal assistants, speech-language pathologists and social workers, and corrections officers and mayors. Yet despite our apparent diversity, some strong threads of continuity run through the fabric of our college and bind us together in common purpose.

The first is a commitment to service. Our graduates enter their new communities prepared to begin careers of service in city halls and hospitals; law offices and clinics, shelters and prisons; and wherever else help is needed.

Another commonality is quality itself. Our faculty members have an extraordinary depth of real-world experience. They are experienced and published educators who have already established careers in the fields in which they teach. They are recognized and respected professionally far beyond the gates of our campus.

Finally, the College of Health and Public Affairs is involved, every day, in the work of improving our community. Through active partnerships with corporations, government agencies and non-profit organizations, our faculty members and students are making a wealth of quiet contributions toward such goals as better health care, more effective crime prevention and the development of higher living standards for all citizens.
