About this Photo

ORLANDO, Feb. 28, 2008 — Members of the college's Student Leadership Council met with the dean earlier this week to learn the latest about the college and to offer their perspectives on student matters.

The Student Leadership Council comprises chair-selected representatives from each of the college's undergraduate academic programs.

Interim Dean Joyce Dorner spoke with the students about the recent appointment of Michael Frumkin from Eastern Washington University as the college's new dean, effective July 1. She also announced that a new Department of Health Management and Informatics will be established this summer and provided updates on the college's budget and program reaccreditations.

The students received updates from Student Affairs Associate Dean Mel Rogers, Undergraduate Studies Associate Dean Pam Kirby, Undergraduate Student Services Director Judy Sindlinger, and Community and Alumni Relations Assistant Director Katie Korkosz as well.

In turn, each student representative offered an update on the activities of her respective student group. For example, Peggy Hightower shared how she and other social work students are helping the School of Social Work during its reaccreditation this spring.

"The Student Leadership Council provided excellent feedback about the student experience in each of the undergraduate programs, student issues across all programs and recommendations for enhancement of the student experience in the college," Dorner said.
